The Sonsio Grand Prix of Road America has its roots back in 1982 when it was a CART IndyCar Series race. The race was held annually from 1982 to 2008. The race was dropped in 2008 due to some issues, and fans were very disappointed and upset. After 8 years, the race was brought back to Road America in 2016 and has been held annually since then.
